PORT OCR DISRUPTION

Se successfully carried out the final test of the PC-91 project, called “DISRUPTION OF PORT OCR”, financed by the Ports 4.0 Fund of Puertos del Estado, at the BEST terminal of the port of Barcelona, as a facilitating agent.

The pre-commercial project PORT OCR DISRUPTION has consisted in the development of a software for the intelligent identification of intermodal transport elements through the use of artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, able to detect and read in a single shot a relevant structured alphanumeric text or the symbols of any image, with high accuracy and drastically reducing hardware needs and manual interventions, representing a total disruption with the current OCR systems.

The tool provides OCR capabilities to effectively track moving cargo assets from ordinary CCTV cameras. The pilot test consisted of the development and implementation of software for the reading and identification of train, wagon and container identification codes from video images captured as trains pass through the terminal entrance.
